Already helping a parent, grandparent or family member with daily care? Through Michigan's Home Help program, you can be paid for the care you give. We handle the paperwork, training and payroll, at no cost to you or your loved one.

Paid Family Caregiving

Genesis Care Network is a certified Adult Home Help agency, enrolled and approved with MDHHS and based in Okemos. We serve families in all 83 Michigan counties, including small towns and rural areas.

How It Works

  1. Check the list below. Your loved one needs Michigan Medicaid and help with daily activities like bathing, dressing or meals.

  2. Apply with Genesis. Fill out our short caregiver application. We complete the enrollment steps with you.

  3. Complete onboarding. A background check and a brief orientation.

  4. Get paid for your care. You keep caring for your loved one, and we pay you.

Do You Qualify?

You may qualify if you can say yes to these:

  • My loved one has full Michigan Medicaid (or I'd like help understanding how to apply)

  • They need hands-on help with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, meals or medications

  • They live in Michigan, in their own home or a family home (not a nursing home)

  • I'm 18 or older and can pass a background check

  • I'm not their spouse, and they're not my child under 18

Who Can Be a Paid Caregiver?

Adult children, grandchildren, siblings, other relatives, friends and neighbors can all be paid caregivers. Michigan rules don't allow a spouse to be paid for caring for a spouse, or a parent for caring for a minor child.

What You'll Earn

  • $17.33 an hour, plus a $300 sign-on bonus

  • Paid every two weeks by direct deposit or debit card (your first paycheck arrives about a month after you start, when the state's payments begin)

  • Paid CNA training if your loved one has complex medical needs

  • No cost to you or your loved one. Home Help is paid for by Michigan Medicaid.
